Loss in service
On deeper inspection, this was a DoS attack, our automation to prevent these incidents kicked in and within 2 minutes got services back online without us needing to do anything. The mail server was a red herring and hadn't caused any issue at all.
There seemed to be an issue with a mail server causing a knock on impact on network availability. This has now been resolved. Apologies for the inconvenience.
