Incident Resolved – Rackspace London Data Centre

We’re pleased to confirm that all systems are fully operational, and the issue is now resolved.

The incident was resolved around 5:30am this morning. Since then, services have remained stable, and the follow-up risk we were monitoring has now cleared without further disruption.

What happened?

This outage was caused by proactive power system maintenance carried out by Rackspace in their London data centre. Unfortunately, this triggered a major platform-wide issue, affecting a large number of clients, including us.

To reassure: this was not due to our server environments or configurations, but part of a much wider incident within the Rackspace environment. You can see more about that here.

Our sincerest apologies

We understand how critical uptime is, and how frustrating and disruptive this outage has been. We share that frustration and are reviewing how we can reduce future risk and improve transparency during third-party incidents like this.

Our servers are now fully operational and all websites and hosted services are running as normal.

We are currently seeing full stability across our infrastructure.

Rackspace has resolved the earlier critical issue affecting our servers in their London data centre, and we are continuing to work closely with them. We are aware of a potential follow-on issue that could cause further disruption, but at this stage it appears manageable and we’re hopeful it will be resolved without impact.

We will continue monitoring closely and are prepared to respond immediately if anything changes.

Next update: Within the next 4 hours or sooner if there are any developments.

Thank you for your patience throughout this incident.

We’re still actively working with Rackspace to resolve the issue affecting our hosting services. While some recovery has been seen across their infrastructure, our affected servers remain offline due to unresolved access to cloud storage volumes.

We’ve escalated the issue and requested management-level involvement from Rackspace to get clearer answers and an ETA.

If there are no developments overnight, we’ll post the next update by 8:00am. Thanks again for your continued patience.

We’re continuing to monitor the ongoing issue affecting our web hosting services.

We’ve since learned the disruption is linked to a power outage that occurred earlier at Rackspace’s London data centre. While Rackspace has begun restoring some services, the majority of our hosting servers still do not have access to the cloud storage block volumes, which means most websites remain offline.

At this stage, we’re still awaiting a full resolution from Rackspace, and we currently have no confirmed timeframe for recovery.

We’ll continue to post updates here as soon as we have new information. Thank you again for your patience, we appreciate how disruptive this is and are doing everything we can to push for progress.

I’m afraid we are still dealing with a major outage.

Rackspace has confirmed they are experiencing a critical networking issue in their London data centres, and we are currently completely in their hands. Until connectivity is restored, we are unable to access any servers or hosted services.

We are monitoring the situation constantly and are fully prepared to take immediate action the moment access is available.

We’re just as frustrated as you are and fully understand how serious the impact of websites being down can be, for your business, your users, and your reputation.

We sincerely apologise for this disruption and will continue to update this page as soon as we know more.

In the many years we’ve worked with Rackspace, this is by far the longest and most severe outage we’ve experienced. It’s not reflective of their usual reliability, and we’ll be reviewing the situation thoroughly once resolved.

This is now listed on Rackspace’s status page.

We will continue to monitor this. And apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Rackspace has confirmed a critical issue affecting their London data centre, which is impacting all our hosted services.

This is part of a wider platform problem currently under investigation by Rackspace. We do not yet have a timeline for resolution but will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Following a brief period of restored access, all Rackspace-hosted services have gone down again. We are once again unable to access servers or control panels, and websites relying on these systems are currently offline.

This appears to be a recurring platform-wide issue affecting multiple Rackspace services. However, Rackspace has not yet acknowledged any problems on their public status page, which is adding to the difficulty in confirming timelines or root cause.

What we’re doing:

• Actively monitoring the situation and attempting all available access routes

• Logging the incident and preparing any recovery actions that may be needed once access is restored

• Contacting Rackspace through alternate channels for escalation

Next update: Within 60 minutes or immediately if service is restored.

We’ll continue to keep you fully informed.

Thank you again for your patience during this major incident.

A short while ago, we experienced a significant disruption affecting all services hosted via Rackspace, including our Linux cloud servers, websites, and databases. We also lost access to the main Rackspace Control Panel, making it impossible to manage or diagnose servers during the outage.

Although Rackspace’s official status page did not reflect any reported incidents, this appeared to be a wider platform issue.

Current status:

• Server access has now returned

• Websites and databases are coming back online

• We are monitoring stability closely and restarting services where required

We are continuing to assess the impact across all client environments and will implement any recovery steps needed to ensure everything is back to full performance.

Next update: We’ll confirm full resolution once all systems are verified as stable.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during the disruption.

Investigating

We are currently experiencing intermittent issues affecting website performance and database connectivity across some of our hosted services. This may result in websites loading incorrectly or failing to connect to their database.

Our technical team is actively investigating the root cause, working with Rackspace to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

We’ll provide further updates here as soon as more information becomes available.

Next Update: Within 60 minutes or sooner if resolved. We apologise for any disruption this may cause and appreciate your patience.
